Jongkuch ‘JK’ Mach is 7-foot-6 and light on his feet, which is always going to get you looks at the highest level of basketball. Mach is a very enticing defender with his genuinely unique size and signs of being able to move around relatively well.

STRENGTHS

• Biggest selling point remains his rim protection and general fear factor in the paint. Genuinely discourages attackers from even looking at the rim.
• Massive play finishing target with a big lob-catching radius
• Started taking some threes, but looked rough. In the future, could be a way to not have to bang inside all the time while he's rail thin, but I’m not sure the %s or gravity would exist…
• Screens looked a bit better. More intentional at times about setting a wider base and connecting with the defender
• Plays with better patience than you would expect for a raw center on defense. Doesn’t just sell out at the first chance he has to get a block

IMPROVEMENT AREAS

• Hands and strength . Can get pushed away and lacks the touch to consistently finish non-dunk shots
• Must become more assertive on the glass still, especially when it comes to DREBs
• Gets moved around on defense and in the post to the point where he cannot use his size and length
• No self-creation on offense at all, even in the post
• If he turns the ball over, can he get back and erase what he just gave up at the next level? Could be tough for transition defense

On offense, Mach will be a pure play finisher and, hopefully, an impactful offensive rebounder. If everything goes well, he'll have a pretty simple plug-and-play role, even in limited minutes. But the 18-year-old’s strength on both ends is a massive swing skill and his hands also really need to keep improving. I expect that Mach will become a high-major D-I commit who will need at least 3 years of college development .
