Aubrey Chunga can return value as an explosive two-way wing who finishes plays, adds vertical rim protection and makes simple decisions in transition.
YEAR-TO-YEAR ABI+
#38 OF 86 IN 2025 → #20 OF 89 IN 2026
DEVELOPMENT CONTEXT
Efficiency (41.6 TS% to 54.5 TS%), feel, physicality (this especially) and ABI really improved from 2025 to 2026, which is very encouraging. There was tangible improvement while the broad strokes of his profile still looked similar.
STRENGTHS
- Bounce really pops with dunks in traffic and through contact. For me, the biggest athletic standout in the 2026 Academy Games.
- Vertical explosion also shows up with his blocks (5.6 BLK%) . Active around the rim as a defender and can slide his feet in space.
- Willing 3P shooter (43.2 3PAr) with decent confidence but has a bit of a hitch to his shot.
- Game lends itself to transition . Picks up two-way sequences where he gets a stock (usually a block) and then a bucket or assist in the open court.
- Whenever he attacks in the half-court, keeps it simple out of 1-2 dribbles.
- Got some ballhandling/pick-and-roll reps and can make some basic reads.
IMPROVEMENT AREAS
- Limited to being a play finisher out of spot-ups or cuts at the rim right now. You don’t want him manufacturing his own scoring looks.
- At the same time, efficiency from three needs to improve (25 3P% on 4/16) despite his confidence.
- 62.5 FT% on 10/16 was not an encouraging shooting indicator.
- Explosive but not sure how bendy he is. Mostly straight line drives. Didn’t show much change of direction or craft.
- Wish he was a tiny bit taller for a wing.
In 13 GP (10.2 MIN): 4.3 PTS / 1.5 REB (0.6o) / 0.5 AST to 0.2 TOV / 0.1 STL, 0.3 BLK, 0.9 PF on 55.3 FG% / 42.1 3P% / 66.7 FT%
